Question 1

What does cargo-worthy mean for a shipping container?

Accepted Answer

Cargo-worthy refers to a used shipping container that is structurally sound, watertight, and suitable for transporting goods. Cargo-worthy containers meet international shipping standards and carry a valid CSC (Container Safety Convention) certification. For buyers purchasing a used container for storage, cargo-worthy is the recommended minimum condition grade — it guarantees the container is weatherproof and structurally intact.

Question 2

Can I inspect a used shipping container before purchasing?

Accepted Answer

Yes. SiteBox Storage encourages customers to visit our facility to inspect available containers before purchasing. Please contact us to schedule an appointment at your nearest location. We recommend inspecting in daylight with doors open to check for light penetration, floor condition, door seals, and corner post integrity.

Question 3

Accepted Answer

Delivery fees depend on the distance and accessibility of your site. Contact us for a detailed delivery quote based on your specific location.

Question 4

Can shipping containers be modified or customized?

Accepted Answer

Let us know your specific modification needs and we can tailor the container accordingly. Contact your local SiteBox Storage team to discuss available customization options.

Question 5

What sizes of used shipping containers are available for sale?

Accepted Answer

SiteBox Storage's inventory typically includes 20-foot and 40-foot shipping containers in standard and high cube configurations. High cube containers offer an additional foot of interior height (9'6" versus the standard 8'6") and are available in 40-foot lengths. We also carry specialty configurations including double-door containers and one-trip containers. Current available inventory and pricing can be browsed at https://siteboxstorage.com/store.

Question 6

How do I prepare my site for shipping container delivery?

Accepted Answer

To prepare your site for container delivery, ensure the delivery area is level, clear of obstacles, and has sufficient space for the delivery truck to maneuver. A 20-foot container typically requires approximately 50 to 70 feet of straight clearance. A 40-foot container requires approximately 100 to 120 feet of clearance and 12 feet of width. Check for overhead power lines and low-hanging obstructions along the delivery path. If you have concerns about site accessibility, discuss them with your SiteBox Storage team in advance of the delivery date.
